Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

If you have additional questions, please contact us.

  • Do I need to bring my own instrument?

Yes. However, Long & McQuade Music will provide all instruments for the Beginning Band program, and Yamaha Canada Music ensures that our Band and Orchestra program has all of the required percussion. Specialized instruments and pianos for IMC Jazz will be provided by Yamaha.

  • Are there any drum sets at IMC?

Jazz and Rock drummers must bring their own set. Please make sure all drums, cymbals and hardware are labelled. It is possible to rent a kit from Long & McQuade. IMC will transport the kit. All drummers must bring their own sticks and cymbals. To rent a kit please email Nolan McGillivary at nmcgillivary@long-mcquade.com

  • How much money do I need to bring to camp?

Campers do not HAVE to bring any money to camp. All meals, concerts, recreational activities (water-skiing, windsurfing, tennis, etc.) and social events are included in the camp fee. Campers may CHOOSE to bring some money to purchase snacks (soft drinks, chocolate bars, chips, etc.) from the tuck shop. Please note the tuck shop only accepts cash.

  • Is there financial support available?

IMC has a scholarship and bursary program. Please click here for the scholarship form. This form is due April 01 for the upcoming summer session. For further information you can call 416-488-3316.

  • Does IMC accommodate dietary restrictions?

CAMP MANITOU has a chef dedicated to campers with special dietary needs. The Manitou health center provides the chef with all of the dietary restrictions parents have listed on the health form. Meals are then prepared to meet the needs of these campers.

  • Can campers phone home while at camp?

Campers may use their cell phones when not in class. If your camper does not have a cell phone with them they may come to the office to call home.

  • What time should I arrive?

There will be an introductory meeting for all campers at 2:00 pm on the first day. Those driving to camp should plan to arrive between 12:30 and 1:30 pm. Be sure to have lunch before you arrive.

  • Who will be in my cabin?

Campers are assigned to cabins with other campers of similar age and program. If you and your friend(s) want to be in the same cabin, just send us an email cabinmates@campimc.ca with your names and we will do our best to accommodate you. Please note, you will not receive a reply to your email regarding cabin requests.

  • Who decides which ensemble I'll be in?

Every camper will be evaluated during a brief online session (jazz, rock, beginning band) or submit a pre-recorded video (band, orchestra, musical theatre) before camp. The faculty members will then assign campers to the ensemble which best suits their playing level.

  • What should I play for my audition?

This is not a TEST! Choose a short selection that will best show the faculty the level of music you are most comfortable playing.

  • What time should my parents pick me up on the last day?
